The Mission’s Beginnings
Following Mr. Rafael “Boy” Dizon Jr.’s recovery from cancer—a miracle they credit to their family’s devoted prayers to St. Thérèse—he and his wife, Mrs. Rosaline “Shalene” Dizon, dreamed of building a church in her honor.
In 2003, the Dizon family turned their vision into reality with the establishment of the Shrine of St. Thérèse in Pasay City, Philippines. Their journey of faith and dedication then inspired them to embark on a similar mission in the United States, leading to the creation of The St. Thérèse Mission.
Why the Mojave Desert?
Boy and Shalene envisioned the Mojave Desert as the ideal setting for The St. Thérèse Mission—offering peaceful religious solitude away from city lights, yet conveniently close to Las Vegas, making it accessible to the city's large Catholic community and visitors.
The St. Thérèse Mission is officially recognized as a Catholic Mission within the Diocese of Fresno, under the Lone Pine Parish, led by Fr. Douglas Walker.

Our cemetery is set within the serene grounds of a Catholic Mission, where weekly services, a dedicated resident chaplain, and a vibrant church community ensure that loved ones are laid to rest in sacred ground, their legacies honored through prayer and remembrance.
Spanning 17.5 acres, the Mission is more than just a place of reflection—it is a space for reverence and celebration. Designed as a joyful gathering place, it invites visitors to engage in cultural, social, and educational events that bring faith and community together.
Beyond the cemetery, the property features a Catholic Mission, a Visitor Center, a Plaza, an Event Center, a Gift Shop, and a playfield, all fostering a deep sense of connection and belonging.
